Due to the lockdown situation, we had been confined to our homes for more than 8 months. As the situation improved, a group of us, university friends, made plans for a tour to Rangamati.

Plan

Our plan was for 2 days and 1 night. On the first day, we intended to visit Mufessora Waterfall and Naw-kata Waterfall. On the second day, our goal was to explore Mighty Dhuppani Waterfall. For accommodation, we booked a guest house called Niribili Guest House, and we also secured a troller for 2 days who arranged all the guides and food. Contact numbers for further information are provided at the end of this article.

Day 01

Arrival in Kaptai from Dhaka and Manikgonj

We were a group of five people, with four of us arriving in Kaptai directly from Dhaka by bus. In my case, I traveled from Manikgonj. Since there was no direct bus from Manikgonj to Kaptai, I took a Manikgonj-Cox’s Bazar bus, first reaching Chittagong. From Chittagong, I reserved a CNG to a place called Lichubagan, then took another CNG from Lichubagan to Kaptai. In Kaptai, I met the other four members of our group.

Kaptai to Bilaichori

After breakfast in Kaptai, we bought water and snacks for our trekking adventure. We then took a passenger troller from Kaptai to Bilaichori, a journey that took almost 2 hours across the Kaptai Lake.

Waterfalls: Mufessora Waterfall, Naw-Kata Waterfall

Our Way to Mufessora Waterfall

We met our reserved troller boatman at Bilaichori and left our backpacks at the guesthouse before embarking on our journey to the waterfalls. The first 30 minutes of our journey took us across Kaptai Lake, where we picked up our guide. It took approximately 1.15 hours to reach Mufessora Waterfall, where another tourist group had arrived earlier that day. We spent 30 minutes there and then proceeded to Naw-kata Waterfall. Naw-kata Waterfall was completely empty, and we spent almost an hour there before returning to our guesthouse around 3 p.m. Our boatman had already prepared a meal for us, including boiled fish caught from Kaptai Lake.

Chill At Their Village

In the evening, our boatman took us to his village and showed us around. He shared insights into their culture, society, religion, and more.

Day 02

Way to Dhuppani

Way to mighty Dhuppani

We woke up before 5 AM, and our boatman was ready to start our journey at 5:30 AM. He had brought breakfast with him, and our trek began from a village named Uluchori. The journey to Uluchori took about 2 hours across Kaptai Lake. Our guide was waiting for us at Uluchori, and we enjoyed our breakfast on the troller.

The trek itself lasted for 2.15 hours and involved crossing two large hills and two small hills. When we reached Dhuppani, all the time, money, and effort invested in the journey made perfect sense. We spent an hour at Dhuppani Waterfall before returning to the troller for our journey back to Kaptai.

During our return trip, our boatman brought food for us from his home. We booked our tickets for Kaptai-Dhaka, and the next morning, we were back in Dhaka.

Please remember to keep the areas clean while traveling.
